Three 8th Grade Division 1 matchups are up for this week’s AAYFL Game of the Week, and we’re putting the decision in your hands!

Week 4 also marks the beginning of conference play, raising the stakes as teams begin their push toward the postseason. With conference champions earning an automatic spot in the playoffs, every conference matchup matters from here on out.

Sussex Hamilton vs. Oak Creek

Oak Creek enters conference play as one of Division 1’s unbeaten teams after an impressive 3–0 start. The Junior Knights opened the season with a 46–20 victory over Germantown, followed it with a 56–26 win over Lake Country Red, and continued their strong start with a 54–18 victory over Hartford in Week 3. Sussex Hamilton enters at 2–1 after victories over Lake Country Red and Hartford before falling 20–0 to Mequon-Thiensville last week. The Junior Chargers will look to bounce back as they welcome an undefeated Oak Creek team to Sussex for the conference opener.

Mukwonago Blue vs. Franklin

Two undefeated teams meet in Franklin with somebody’s perfect start coming to an end. Mukwonago Blue has opened the season 3–0, defeating Mequon-Thiensville 22–8, Germantown 6–0, and Lake Country Red 36–12. Franklin has been just as impressive, starting 3–0 with victories over Hartford, Mequon-Thiensville, and Germantown while allowing just eight total points through its first three games. With both teams entering conference play unbeaten, this matchup provides an early opportunity to take a big step forward in the conference race.

Hartford vs. Mequon-Thiensville

Mequon-Thiensville enters Week 4 with momentum after picking up its first victory of the season in impressive fashion, shutting out Sussex Hamilton 20–0 in Week 3. The Cardinals will look to carry that performance into conference play against Hartford. The Orioles enter the week searching for their first win after a difficult opening stretch against Franklin, Sussex Hamilton, and Oak Creek. With the non-conference portion of the schedule now behind them, both teams have a fresh opportunity as conference play begins.
