Game of the Week: Week 3 (September 19th)

The votes are in, and the AAYFL community has selected its Week 3 Game of the Week!

This week, the spotlight shifts to Division 3 as the Waukesha North Junior Northstars welcome the West Allis Central Junior Bulldogs for an 8th Grade matchup between two teams looking to make a statement in Week 3.

Waukesha North enters Saturday at 1–1 after splitting its first two games of the season, while West Allis Central comes to Waukesha looking to break into the win column.

Looking to Bounce Back

Waukesha North opened the 2026 season on the right foot, earning a 16–7 victory over Wauwatosa West in Week 1.

The Junior Northstars followed that up with a tough test against Cedar Grove-Belgium in Week 2. Waukesha North battled the Rockets but ultimately came up short in a 24–14 loss, dropping the Junior Northstars to 1–1 on the season.

Now, Waukesha North returns home with an opportunity to get back in the win column and move above .500.

West Allis Central enters Saturday searching for its first victory, but the Junior Bulldogs have already shown flashes of what they are capable of offensively.

In Week 1, West Allis Central went toe-to-toe with Cedar Grove-Belgium in a high-scoring matchup. The Junior Bulldogs put 28 points on the board, but the Rockets pulled away for a 42–28 victory.

Week 2 brought a different challenge against Journey House, one of Division 3's early undefeated teams. The Packers held West Allis Central off the scoreboard and handed the Junior Bulldogs a 35–0 loss.

With two difficult opponents behind them, the Bulldogs head into Week 3 looking to turn the page and put together their first win of the season.

A Chance to Set the Tone

Saturday gives both teams an opportunity to change the direction of their early season.

For Waukesha North, a victory would move the Junior Northstars to 2–1 and provide a quick response following their first loss of the season.

For West Allis Central, it's an opportunity to put the first win on the board and regain some of the offensive momentum the Bulldogs showed when they scored 28 points on opening weekend.

Both teams compete in the AAYFL's 8th Grade Division 3 Ireland/Lewis grouping, making this another important early-season matchup as teams begin to establish themselves within the division.
